Vineyard: Sourced from vineyards in Peyriac de Mer (near Corbieres) owned and farmed by Magali Terrier of Les Deux Anes, who was kindly willing to sell the Dutraive family some fruit following the destructive storms that ravaged Fleurie vineyards.
Soil: Clay limestone, deep topsoil
Viticulture: Farmed organically, harvested into tiny bins in the morning
Vinification: Semi-carbon fermentation/maceration; no sulfur in vinification, all wild yeast fermenation
Aging: Aged in neutral barrel
Production: Very limited
Notes: Cap ô Sud Cinsault is one of four wines from the Dutraive family negociant project created in response to crop losses of 90% from storms that ravaged the vineyards of Fleurie. While it is farmed by family friend Magali Terrier of Domaine des Deux Anes, the wine is a classic Dutraive style with bright red fruit, lovely lift and so much energy! A fresh, light, easy-drinking, and Beaujolais-inspired wine (12% alc!) that speaks to friendship and fun.
