Varietal notes: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca & others
Vineyard: The grapes come from two areas - Napoles and Pinhao Valley with many of the vines as old as 70 years. The wine is a field blend of many varieties the principles being Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Amarela.
Orientation: The vineyards are at an elevation fo 200 to 450 m
Viticulture: Hand picked with vineyard selection. Practicing Organic.
Vinification: Fermented in a combination of traditional cement lagares and stainless steel. Macerations varied between 8-25 days. The wine naturally ferments.
Aging: 18 months in French oak barrels where malolactic takes place.
Notes: The grapes for Vertente come from the slopes of Pinhao and Tedo rivers - both Douro tributaries. The grape blend includes several varieties, where Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz are predominant. Vertente is a fresh and elegant wine. Its freshness and youth come from the vines of Quinta de Napoles and its elegance from the old vineyards of the Pinhao valley.
