Winemaker Thomas Brown knew there was something special about Maybach Family Wines back when it all started in 2004. Owner, Chris Maybach, mentioned to Thomas his access to fruit from the famed Oakville site Weitz Vineyard. This impressive site perched 1,000' above the Silverado Trail would be the cornerstone of Maybach production moving forward going into the Materium Cabernet Sauvignon bottling. Chis was determined to build on the family legacy of craftsmanship and quality that his ancestors established over 100 years ago when they created the Maybach automobile.
The wine portfolio has expanded to include Amoenus Cabernet from a single hillside vineyard in Calistoga, Eterium Chardonnay from the B.Thieriot vineyard and Irmgard Pinot noir produced from Heritage clones on the Sonoma Coast. Thomas Brown takes care to allow these individual vineyards to have a clear voice with his deft hand at winemaking. The level of quality and attention to detail is worthy of the Maybach name.
