Silvia Zucchi is the third and current generation from a family with a long history of winemaking in the Sorbara zone of Lambrusco. The winery is located north of Modena along the banks of the of the Secchia and Panaro rivers. Her family founded the Azienda Agricola Zucchi in the 1950’s and have been making Lambrusco there ever since. After having graduated with a degree in wine making from the renowned school of winemaking in Conegliano, Silvia returned home to the family business. With her return brought many updates to the winery along with a renewed focus on quality. After her tenth harvest working with her family, she decided to form her own brand under her name, Silvia Zucchi.

With her own project, she is focusing on small production wines - high quality bottlings from their oldest vineyards. She continues to work on clonal selections of Lambrusco di Sorbara from her family’s oldest vineyards, a project she had started while still working with her family.

We fell in love with her Lambrusco di Sorbara Rose bottling. Made in the Charmat Lungo method, an extended, more labor-intensive version of the traditional method of production for Lambrusco. The fermentation in autoclave last five to six weeks for this wine. This little wine’s appeal extends beyond the usual Lambrusco market. It is bursting with little red fruits and savory mountain herbs. Sort of like a slightly dryer version of Cerdon de Bugey.

Eminently drinkable. Utterly delicious. Lots of fun…!

Warning…the bottle may disappear quickly?!
