Caterwaul Wines if a partnership between Matt Hardin and Thomas Rivers Brown. The two have worked together for many years over many different projects, a friendship was developed. Out of that friendship the idea of working together, utilizing the strengths of the other, Caterwaul was born.
Matt Hardin, a 6th generation Napa Valley resident, and farmer is owner and managing partner of Matthew Wallace Wines and Hardin-Clark Vineyard Management. Matt enjoys putting his expertise to work farming both ultra-premium grapes for his private clients and several sites that make up the base for the Caterwaul Napa bottling.
Thomas Rivers Brown is considered one of the top winemakers in California and crafts some of Napa and Sonoma’s most sought-after wines (Schrader, Post Parade, Outpost and his own Rivers-Marie and Aston Estate).
Typical of Thomas’ winemaking, the Caterwaul wines possess a deep, powerful fruit character while capturing the nuances of site and balancing tannins. The focused is on making vineyard specific Cabernets from Regusci and Cemetery vineyards, as well as an entry level Napa bottling from premium sites throughout the valley. The Napa Valley bottling is consistently heralded by critics as being one of the greatest values in Napa Valley Cabernet.
